Description

Search is mostly built for words. Our memory for music often isn't. We remember how a song goes long after we've forgotten what it's called. Shazam is great when the song is playing, but a wobbly, off-key hum from memory is a much harder problem. So I built humhunt. Hum it, whistle it or sing it into your mic, and it hunts down the song. You get a top match, a ranked list of other likely songs and a short preview of each so you can check. If a scrap of lyric comes back to you, type that in too.

Could you build this?

No Acoustic audio matching for pitch-imperfect humming requires complex digital signal processing (mel-frequency analysis, pitch contour extraction, dynamic time warping) and a massive reference database.

What it would actually take: Building a reliable hum-to-search engine requires a specialized audio DSP pipeline (or deep neural audio embedding model like Google's SoundSearch) capable of pitch contour extraction invariant to key, tempo, and vocal timbre. The backend needs a high-scale vector indexing database (like Milvus or Faiss) indexed over a multi-million-track melody contour corpus. It requires deep audio engineering expertise, machine learning expertise in audio retrieval, and massive music licensing/melody datasets.
