Remember the melody but not the title? Hum to Search lets you record a tune or upload audio in your browser. Choose humming/singing mode for a melody, or recording mode for recorded music. Searches use one-time credit packs, with no recurring subscription. Clear audio and a distinctive chorus give the search a better starting point; a match is not guaranteed.

Could you build this?

Partial A web UI with audio recording and credit payments is trivial, but audio melody extraction and acoustic fingerprint matching against a massive database of copyrighted music requires sophisticated audio DSP and proprietary music catalog indexes.

What it would actually take: Building this requires acoustic feature extraction (pitch contour / fundamental frequency tracking like Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients) and dynamic time warping or neural audio embeddings matched against a vector database of millions of songs. The backend would need Python (librosa/PyTorch), a vector DB like Milvus, and licensing or partnerships with music catalog metadata providers (e.g., Gracenote, ACRCloud).
