Description

I started working on this back in 2019, mostly as a design idea. Over the last month I made a big push to make it 100% usable and replace C# in all my personal projects. I now feel it's solid enough to gather feedback from other developers. If you take it for a spin, I hope you enjoy it and send your thoughts!

Could you build this?

No Developing a full-fledged programming language compiler targeting .NET assemblies with custom syntax, language server, MSBuild integration, and debuggers requires immense language engineering expertise.

What it would actually take: The project consists of a compiler generating Common Intermediate Language (CIL) assemblies via Roslyn or System.Reflection.Metadata, implementing complex features like structured concurrency, null-safety, and pattern matching. It also requires an MSBuild SDK, a Language Server Protocol (LSP) daemon, and Portable PDB emission for debugging, demanding deep compiler construction and CLR internals expertise.

Discussion

2 comments analyzed.

Concerns raised: F# functions lack default arguments support, limiting functional programming paradigm

Feature requests: Add default arguments support to normal functions (not just methods)
