TellEdit is an AI video editor for people who film but don't want to edit. Upload the clips you already have, describe the video in plain words, and get back a finished, captioned video. It cuts ums and retakes, finds the best moment, puts B-roll over an interview, cuts montages to the beat, and reframes to vertical. No timeline: say what to change and it redoes the edit. Only your footage, never generated.

Could you build this?

Partial The plain-language editing workflow can be assembled from transcription, LLM planning, and FFmpeg, but reliable best-moment detection, B-roll matching, and beat-synced montages need serious media-ML work and compute.

What it would actually take: A practical stack is Whisper or a hosted STT for transcripts, an LLM that turns the user's instruction into an edit decision list, FFmpeg for cutting and captioning, and a job queue with GPU workers for heavier analysis. The hard parts are scene and face or speaker detection, filler and retake detection with acceptable accuracy, B-roll retrieval and alignment, and beat detection tied to music editing. Achieving quality comparable to the claims requires video ML and pipeline engineering experience, plus the cost of GPU processing per video.
