Description

SEKAI is an AI world model of real places. Pick any street in 75 countries and it builds the people who live there from the published census of that block - age, job, income, household, how far they will walk - then puts your question to each one. They answer yes or no, and say why. Today's weather and hazards are in the model too. Ask "would they come to my cafe here?" and you get a number you can check: it is calibrated against real outcomes, and every figure links back to its source.

Could you build this?

No Ingesting, normalizing, and spatially querying census and block-level demographic data across 75 countries to drive simulated agent-based models requires massive data engineering and specialized geographic simulation infrastructure.

What it would actually take: A production implementation requires a global geospatial data pipeline ingesting census data across 75 countries (mapping heterogeneous administrative units into normalized microdata), combined with an agent-based modeling framework (like Mesa or custom discrete-event simulators) and scalable LLM batch inference. You would need GIS data engineers, geospatial databases (PostGIS/H3), and expertise in synthetic population generation (Iterative Proportional Fitting or generative Bayesian networks).
