Description

portex gives the server on your laptop a public HTTPS address. Install, sign in with GitHub or Telegram, run portex http 3000. Add -s myapp to pick the name. It lasts while your tunnel is open — made for demos and webhooks, not hosting.

custom public https tunnels for localhost

Could you build this?

Partial The client CLI is straightforward, but the tunnel relay requires custom reverse proxy infrastructure handling dynamic TLS certificates, multiplexed TCP/HTTP connections, and DDoS mitigation.

What it would actually take: A real tunneling solution needs a lightweight client binary (Go or Rust) paired with an edge cluster running custom reverse proxies (e.g., using Yamux or QUIC for multiplexed streams). The server must orchestrate on-demand ACME wildcard/subdomain TLS termination, dynamic DNS routing, and stateful socket pairing under high connection concurrency.
