Description

omanote is a fast, open-source markdown editor for the terminal. Think nano for markdown: no modes, nothing to configure, one binary. Markdown renders as you type, and the raw syntax only shows on the line you are editing. Link notes with @, fuzzy-find or search inside every note with Ctrl+P, and open Claude Code, Codex, or Gemini beside your notes with Ctrl+G. Made for Omarchy, with a plugin in its marketplace. Runs in any terminal on Linux or macOS.

Could you build this?

Partial Terminal TUI applications with custom inline WYSIWYG markdown rendering, buffer management, and embedded AI interaction require nuanced lower-level systems programming that AI assistants frequently struggle to get stable.

What it would actually take: A production version would likely be written in Rust using Ratatui/Crossterm or Go using Bubbletea. The hard part is building an in-place markdown parser/renderer that swaps raw tokens on active lines while maintaining rock-solid text buffer indexing, multi-byte cursor coordinates, undo/redo stacks, and responsive asynchronous AI streaming directly inside a TUI.
