Description

The stock iPhone camera applies Smart HDR, Deep Fusion, noise reduction, sharpening and tone mapping to every shot. LibreCam turns off everything that can be turned off, and shoots what the sensor sees. One tap, two files: a true Bayer DNG, exactly as the sensor read it, and a single-frame HEIF from the ISP. Every physical lens, no digital zoom. Manual focus, shutter, ISO and white balance, focus peaking, a histogram, nine looks, a Watch remote. No account, no tracking, no subscription.

manual raw camera app without computational processing for iphone

Could you build this?

Partial A basic iOS camera UI is simple, but disabling computational photography pipelines and extracting pure Bayer RAW sensor data requires deep low-level AVFoundation expertise.

What it would actually take: This requires native Swift/Objective-C development using AVFoundation and CoreImage, specifically configuring `AVCapturePhotoOutput` with `AVCapturePhotoSettings.rawPhotoPixelFormatType` while explicitly bypassing tone mapping and noise reduction. Handling uncompressed DNG writing, color matrix calibration, and demosaicing pipelines without Apple's automated processing requires low-level imaging pipeline knowledge.
