Description

Your handwriting, as a realttf. Write four lines in a notebook you already own, photograph the page, type in your own hand. The browser fits the notebook rules, dewarps the page, removes the ruling, and segments all 81 glyphs. Only 1-bit bitmaps cross the wire, about 100KB. The server traces them and assembles the font.

Could you build this?

Partial While the front-end landing page and payment flow are trivial, executing robust in-browser page dewarping, line suppression, and accurate 81-glyph segmentation across arbitrary camera angles requires specialized computer vision engineering.

What it would actually take: The stack would combine client-side OpenCV/WebAssembly for edge detection, Hough transforms to detect notebook rules, homography calculations to flatten perspective, and adaptive thresholding to isolate handwriting strokes from printed lines. Connected component analysis and contour detection would isolate and align individual glyph bounding boxes, which are then transmitted to a backend using Potrace or FontForge/opentype.js to vectorize paths and compute font metrics (baseline, ascender/descender, advance widths) into standard TTF/OTF tables.
