Description

I've been playing with trying to get the most out of regular terminal (ansi) graphics rendering for an mmorpg game for a bit of fun. Thought that I might take a quick detour and make a streetfighter style game that turned out better than I thought it would.Type "ssh sshfighter.com" in your terminal to playVisit the website https://sshfighter.com to watch replays etc (tv feature is cool)My friends and I have been working on bot models for a bit of fun, you can queue against them if you want to and they have their own leaderboard. look at /bots if you want to make your own. It's all open source https://github.com/thomasdavis/sshfighter.com---I intentionally didn't take advantage of things like kitty graphics, but I have started work on an adapter to take full advantage of it. (the bandwidth is a bit hard to reckon with)---Feedback would be awesome! p.s. sorry I did not test on any windows terminals

Could you build this?

Partial Building an interactive multiplayer fighting game streamed over a raw SSH terminal connection requires low-latency custom terminal protocol handling and precise ANSI rendering.

What it would actually take: The stack needs a custom SSH daemon (using libraries like libssh, Go's crypto/ssh, or Rust's russh) combined with an authoritative multiplayer game loop handling ANSI terminal escape sequences and double-buffering. The hard parts are network jitter mitigation over SSH/PTY sessions, real-time input parsing across different terminal emulators, and frame rendering without flicker. It demands expertise in low-level networking, terminal emulation standards, and real-time game state synchronization.
