Read the full description

Nu is a self-hosted personal agent you can talk to from the terminal or any chat app. Every tool call is checked against your policy, and anything you haven't allowed waits for your approval. Every step is recorded, so a crash or restart resumes where it stopped without repeating work. Shell commands run in a sandbox that holds none of your secrets, and packages can add to or change almost anything Nu does. MIT licensed.

Could you build this?

Partial The chat and terminal interface and tool calls are vibe-codeable, but a trustworthy self-hosted agent needs robust policy enforcement, sandboxing, and durable execution that are security-critical and easy to get wrong.

What it would actually take: The architecture would be an agent loop with a tool-call gateway that evaluates each action against a user-defined policy and queues approvals, backed by an append-only event log for checkpoint and resume. Chat-app adapters (Telegram, Slack, etc.) sit on top. The hard parts are sandboxing shell and file access safely and making crash recovery idempotent, which requires careful systems and security engineering.
