Dictionary lookups often give the wrong meaning when a word has several senses. LingTube uses the subtitle line and part of speech to give the meaning used in that sentence. It also adds part-of-speech colors with furigana and pinyin, grammar breakdowns with CEFR levels, transcription for videos without captions, shareable timestamped notes, danmaku on YouTube and Netflix, and AI Q&A that knows the video. YouTube chapters, heatmap and Shorts still work.

Could you build this?

Partial The UI for subtitle-based learning is buildable, but sense-accurate dictionary meanings, part-of-speech tagging, and CEFR grading across multiple languages need licensed lexical data and tuned NLP pipelines.

What it would actually take: Build a browser extension or web app that pulls subtitles (for example, from YouTube captions) and runs tokenization and POS tagging per language, such as with spaCy, MeCab, or jieba. The hard part is sense disambiguation and CEFR leveling, which requires licensed dictionaries (such as Wiktionary-derived data or commercial lexicons) and a linguist to validate the output quality across languages.
