Description

Call Screener is an AI assistant that answers the calls you don't pick up. It finds out who is calling and why, then rings you only for the ones you'd want. Spam and sales calls never ring your phone. Spam filters label a call and leave the decision to you. Silencing unknown callers means missing the school, the lab results, the delivery. This sits in between. You keep your number and your carrier. Set rules for who always rings through. Works on any carrier with call forwarding.

Could you build this?

Partial While the web dashboard and LLM conversation flows are straightforward, handling live telephony screening requires complex call-forwarding, programmable voice streams, and carrier-grade latency controls.

What it would actually take: The stack requires Twilio Programmable Voice or Telnyx coupled with WebSockets for ultra-low-latency bidirectional audio streaming to a speech-to-text (e.g., Deepgram), LLM agent (e.g., Groq/OpenAI Realtime), and TTS engine (e.g., Cartesia/ElevenLabs). The hardest engineering challenge is managing call redirection, SIP trunking, and bridging/handing off the live call to the user's phone in real-time.
