Description

Kura is a Mac app for organizing exported photos. Point it at your photo folder and it builds a library on top, without touching a single file. Collections, tags, people and locations live inside the app. Most photo managers want to own your library or make you move files around. Kura does neither. It watches your master folder, so new Lightroom exports show up on their own and deleted photos disappear. Rename or move a file and Kura still recognizes it.

Could you build this?

Partial Building a non-destructive desktop photo organizer requires local image metadata parsing, high-throughput thumbnail generation, and on-device facial recognition.

What it would actually take: A native macOS app (Swift/SwiftUI) that scans external file directories non-destructively requires CoreData or SQLite to maintain an internal catalog index. High-performance background workers must extract EXIF/XMP metadata, generate cached mipmap thumbnails, reverse-geocode coordinates, and run CoreML models (e.g., Apple Vision framework) locally for face and scene clustering without altering source file timestamps.
