Description

I built CrateWire because most tracks in DJ clips on Instagram were impossible to find. Follow a DJ and it goes through their posts: it listens to the audio, reads the caption and checks the comments where people ask "ID?". You get the tracks with links to Beatport, Traxsource, Bandcamp and Spotify. Paste one post, or a SoundCloud, YouTube or Mixcloud set, to get its tracklist with cue times. You can try a post or a set without an account. Plans start at $3 a month.

Could you build this?

Partial The web frontend and notification pipeline are standard, but reliably ingesting Instagram/TikTok video clips at scale and running music recognition on unreleased/underground DJ tracks against niche platforms (Beatport, Bandcamp) presents significant scraping and audio fingerprinting hurdles.

What it would actually take: The stack would require a fleet of headless scrapers or private mobile APIs to monitor DJ social feeds, an audio extraction pipeline, and an audio fingerprinting/matching engine (AcrCloud/Shazam plus custom scrapers across Beatport and Discogs). The hard parts are bypassing aggressive Instagram/TikTok anti-bot rate limits and reliably identifying unreleased IDs, pitched/speed-shifted tracks, or underground vinyl releases that standard commercial ACR databases fail to match.
