Description

Tallspace gives each Windows monitor three vertically stacked workspaces. Put your browser on one page, spreadsheets on another, and documents or terminals on a third. Scroll the edge control or press Ctrl+Alt+Up/Down to move between them. Your app windows and Windows taskbar stay intact; floating and maximized apps can live on different pages. Each monitor moves independently, and Tallspace restores workspace assignments after a restart. Available now in the Microsoft Store with a free trial.

Could you build this?

No Managing virtual desktops or window scrolling on Windows requires low-level Win32 API hooks, desktop window management, and native system integration.

What it would actually take: The software must be written in C++ or C# interacting deeply with the Windows Desktop Window Manager (DWM) and Win32 APIs (e.g., SetWindowPos, SetWindowsHookEx, virtual desktop COM interfaces). Manipulating window coordinates off-screen while maintaining window message loops, smooth scrolling, taskbar synchronization, and multimonitor DPI awareness requires specialized native Windows systems engineering.
