Description

Hi HNI’ve been working on a tool I personally needed as someone who edits a lot of video content. The problem is simple:Modern video editing requires 8+ different tools, all slow, all noisy, all repetitive.Subtitles here. Audio cleanup there. Silence removal elsewhere. Upscaling in another tool. AI voice in a different one. A clip extractor somewhere else…So I built Magiclip.io — a single interface that automates the most boring parts of editing. What it does todayAuto-subtitles (fast & accurate)Silence removalAI voice-overAudio enhancementImage upscalingClip extraction from long videosThumbnail generationQuick TikTok/Reels format conversionAnd more comingThe idea isn’t to replace full editors. It’s to remove the friction of things we repeat 100 times.Upload → Magic → Download. No timeline, no project files, no complexity. Why I built itI edit content frequently, and the workflow felt unnecessarily painful. Magiclip is my attempt to reduce editing from hours to seconds by batching the most common tasks behind simple endpoints. What I’d love feedback onWhat other tasks should be automated?Anything in the UX that feels off or slow?Any feature you’d want exposed through an API?Live linkhttps://magiclip.ioHappy to answer anything about the architecture, the pipelines, or the reasoning behind the features.

Could you build this?

Partial The web studio UI is straightforward to vibe-code, but coordinating heavy media processing pipelines (subtitles, audio cleanup, upscaling, silence removal) requires complex backend infrastructure.

What it would actually take: The architecture needs a distributed video processing pipeline using Celery or Temporal with FFmpeg, Whisper for transcription, Demucs/RNNoise for audio cleanup, and GPU-backed AI workers for video upscaling. The hard part is managing large media file uploads, distributed GPU job scheduling, real-time preview synchronization, and high rendering costs at scale.

Discussion

20 comments analyzed.

Competitors mentioned: Veo 3, Sora 2

Concerns raised: Marketing claim overstates simplicity ('viral Reel in 2 clicks'), Fake email signups will exhaust free trial budget quickly, High infrastructure costs ($3 per Veo3 video) threaten sustainability, Could enable low-quality AI-generated content ('slop'), Unclear positioning - appears to be video-specific despite general-sounding name

Feature requests: Credit-based free trial instead of time-based, More real examples/success stories from creators
