Description

A platform which helps you find candid photos of yourself, possibly taken by strangers. Often, we take really good photos of strangers, accidentally. Think of the times you've been at a tourist location and captured a beautiful sunset with strangers providing the perfect contrast. They never knew about this shot that could have been one of their personal favorites. Serendipity helps you find those accidental moments.

Could you build this?

Partial While the web upload and community feed are standard web app development, accurately matching anonymous faces at scale requires sophisticated facial recognition embeddings, vector search indexing, and strict privacy safeguards.

What it would actually take: The architecture requires an image processing pipeline (AWS S3 + Lambda or custom GPU workers) running deep learning facial detection and recognition models (e.g., ArcFace or InsightFace). Extracted face embeddings would be stored in a vector database like Milvus or Pinecone for similarity search, constrained by geolocation and timestamp metadata. The primary difficulty is maintaining high precision/recall across varied lighting/angles and implementing privacy guardrails to prevent stalking and unauthorized facial matching.
