Description

Every morning thousands of stocks move premarket. Most tools show a list of % changes. PreMarketPrice tells you which moves are actually unusual — each mover is scored by z-score vs its own volatility, relative volume, and excess return vs its sector. Then we hunt for the catalyst: earnings, analyst actions, or news. When there's no catalyst, we say so — a big move with no explanation is itself a signal.

Could you build this?

Partial Calculating z-scores, relative volumes, and news catalysts requires access to expensive, low-latency, real-time premarket consolidated market data feeds.

What it would actually take: A real version requires subscribing to high-throughput financial data APIs (like Polygon.io, IEX Cloud, or direct exchange feeds) that provide reliable premarket quotes and volume. The backend would need a time-series database (e.g., ClickHouse or TimescaleDB) to store historical baseline distributions and compute rolling z-scores in near real-time, paired with an NLP news extraction pipeline to map sudden volume spikes to ticker catalysts.
