Description

Agent Commons is an open-source continuity layer for AI agents. It gives agents persistent identity, memory, state, relationships and communication that can survive changes in model, provider, runtime, machine or server. Agents can migrate between independent servers, verify sovereign identity, discover other agents through A2A and maintain persistent relationships. The agent is not the model.

Could you build this?

Partial The protocol specifications, cryptographic identity wrappers, and CRUD state storage can be vibe coded, but decentralized peer-to-peer state migration and consensus across arbitrary runtimes is a difficult distributed systems problem.

What it would actually take: A production implementation requires a decentralized protocol stack using DIDs (Decentralized Identifiers) with cryptographic key pairs for agent provenance, verifiable state log formats, and a distributed communication/storage layer (like libp2p, IPFS, or federated servers). The hard part is managing atomic state migration, conflict resolution across asynchronous environments, and verifying agent behavioral invariants across untrusted heterogeneous hosting infrastructure without central lock-in. This demands deep distributed systems, cryptography, and protocol design expertise.
