A free, community-built dictionary of dialects, surzhyk and slang — 18,000 words with meanings and real examples, and 28,208 places on the map across 27 regions, with a public API and iOS/Android apps. Could you build this?

Partial The web directory, interactive map, and exam prep app are simple CRUD interfaces, but the platform relies on an extensive, curated linguistic dataset of 18,000 regional words and 28,000 geographic locations.

What it would actually take: Building Soloviy requires a standard web stack like Next.js, Mapbox/Leaflet for the dialect map, and PostgreSQL with PostGIS for spatial queries. The real challenge is linguistic field research, historical dialectology sourcing, and crowdsourced curation workflows to map words accurately across Ukrainian regions without propagating linguistic errors.
