Description

Arnis creates complex and accurate Minecraft Java Edition (1.17+), Bedrock Edition, and Luanti (Minetest) worlds that reflect real-world geography, topography, and architecture. This free and open source project is designed to handle large-scale geographic data from the real world and generate detailed Minecraft worlds. The algorithm processes geospatial data from OpenStreetMap as well as elevation data to create an accurate Minecraft representation of terrain and architecture.

Could you build this?

Partial Parsing OpenStreetMap geospatial data and elevation models to procedurally generate valid Minecraft voxel worlds (Anvil format / Bedrock leveldb) requires specialized GIS data processing and Minecraft binary format engineering.

What it would actually take: The architecture typically uses Rust or C++ to stream OpenStreetMap XML/PBF data alongside DEM (Digital Elevation Model) GeoTIFFs. The hard parts involve spatial triangulation, semantic feature mapping into voxel blocks (roads, roofs, walls), and direct low-level serializing into Minecraft's NBT and Anvil region chunk formats without crashing client world generation.
