Description

ContextSleep lets you put your workspace to sleep and bring it back later without losing the context that matters. It currently captures supported VS Code, Chrome, and development-service state, closes only what it can safely verify, then reconstructs and checks what actually returned. It’s designed to expand to more apps over time, while staying local-first and privacy-conscious with safe closure, cold-start recovery, service restart verification, and ambiguous-state handling as support grows.

Could you build this?

No Safely intercepting, verifying ownership, hibernating, and reliably restoring unmanaged native OS processes, Chrome browser states, local CLI daemons, and multi-window VS Code sessions on Windows requires deep low-level Win32 systems programming and process lifecycle expertise.

What it would actually take: This requires a native C++ or Rust Windows application utilizing low-level Win32 APIs, Windows UI Automation, Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP), and VS Code extension APIs. The hard part is building fail-safe transactional state recovery mechanisms that handle dirty file descriptors, unsaved memory buffers, and child process trees without silent data corruption or zombie process leaks.
