Description

Most practice sites hand you thousands of problems, which is exactly why people stop after a week. Daily Coding gives everyone the same single challenge each day, borrowed from Advent of Code but running all year. You solve it in a built-in editor and run real tests in a sandbox, in 11 languages. Reading the task and running the tests needs no account. Submitting adds streaks, points, levels, achievements and leaderboards, plus access to everyone else's solutions once you post your own.

Could you build this?

Partial The web frontend, user authentication, and streak tracking are straightforward, but running arbitrary untrusted code across 11 different programming languages in a secure, fast sandbox requires dedicated container infrastructure.

What it would actually take: The frontend is a standard Next.js application with a Monaco/CodeMirror code editor, but the backend requires an isolated, secure multi-language code execution engine like Judge0 or custom gVisor/Firecracker microVM clusters. The complex part is securely sandboxing untrusted user code in 11 runtimes, enforcing strict CPU/memory/network isolation, defending against fork bombs and malicious system calls, and executing test suites with low latency. Building and operating this requires systems engineering and infrastructure security experience.
