Description

It’s a simple LLM workspace that runs directly on an iPad, without requiring a Mac or complex server configurations. While many web UIs are difficult to navigate on touch devices, I aimed to create an experience that feels similar to using a native app by running it on iPadOS. Key highlights: • Touch-native gestures (pinch-to-copy code) • Turn any URL to Markdown via Jina Reader • Auto-export chats to localmd files (Obsidian-ready) • 100% private, BYO API keys

Could you build this?

Partial The iPad UI is easy to create, but compiling and running an efficient local LLM runtime on iOS/iPadOS requires deep knowledge of Apple Metal, MLC-LLM/llama.cpp, and iOS memory constraints.

What it would actually take: The app needs a native Swift/SwiftUI interface wrapped around a local inference engine such as llama.cpp or MLC-LLM compiled with Apple Metal Performance Shaders (MPS). The primary difficulty is managing aggressive iOS memory limits (avoiding jetsam OOM crashes when loading quantised 3B-7B models into constrained mobile RAM) and fine-tuning inference kernels to run efficiently on Apple Silicon without draining battery or throttling.
