Description
My Dock Buddies puts small, stylized 3D characters on top of your Mac's Dock. Not a 2D desktop pet: Max and Avery are fully animated 3D buddies who walk, work at a tiny desk, carry things, react and nap. Click one side and they run that way; click the middle and they stop, think and look up at you. Drag them along the Dock, or keep them in their spot. A native menu-bar app for macOS 14+, Apple silicon and Intel.

Could you build this?
Partial While the website and Mac wrapper are simple, creating polished, customized 3D character models and fluid desktop animations requires skilled 3D modeling and animation artistry.
What it would actually take: The desktop application requires a native macOS app (Swift/AppKit) with transparent, floating, click-through-aware windows positioned relative to the Dock geometry. The hardest component is 3D asset pipeline creation: rigging, skinning, and authoring varied animation states (walking, idling, reacting) in Blender/Maya before rendering in Metal or SceneKit/Three.js. A solo vibe coder can assemble the app shell, but generating production-quality 3D character models and state machines typically requires specialized 3D artist expertise.
