Description

Warden is an open-source sandbox runtime for MCP servers. Define explicit filesystem, network, and environment permissions, then run the server inside an enforced sandbox where anything outside the policy is blocked. Warden is designed to make MCP execution safer by default, with a fail-closed approach when the required sandbox cannot be initialized.

Could you build this?

Partial The CLI interface and permission configuration parser are simple to vibe-code, but enforcing secure, fail-closed OS sandboxing requires deep systems and kernel security programming.

What it would actually take: The core runtime must be written in a systems language like Rust or Go, integrating deeply with OS-level isolation primitives such as Linux namespaces, cgroups, Landlock, and seccomp filters (or macOS sandbox APIs and Windows AppContainers). Developing an unbypassable sandbox requires specialized systems security engineering to prevent TOCTOU race conditions and privilege escalation.
