Description

We built Vesper Model because most financial modeling courses involve watching someone else use Excel. Vesper instead gives you a model to build yourself. You enter formulas/assumptions, it checks your work and gives hints when you're stuck. It's aimed mainly at university students preparing for finance/investment banking roles.

Could you build this?

Partial While an interactive spreadsheet UI can be built, creating an accurate formula parser and AST-based grading engine that checks logical structure rather than just values across dozens of financial scenarios requires substantial specialized logic.

What it would actually take: The architecture requires an in-browser spreadsheet engine (e.g., using HyperFormula or Handsontable) paired with a custom formula compiler/AST validator. The hard part is building an AST comparison engine that evaluates dependency graph equivalence and financial modeling best practices without false negatives. Building this requires deep financial modeling domain knowledge combined with compiler/AST manipulation experience.
