Vibe-Codeable Launches Get Half the Upvotes
October 10, 2026 · Nicheloom
Nicheloom tags every launch "vibe-codeable" when it looks buildable solo with an AI coding tool in a weekend. That's a buildability signal, not a worth-building one -- and the data says the two pull in opposite directions. Pulled from Nicheloom's own tracked launches, as of October 10, 2026.
Methodology, stated plainly
Vibe-codeable (yes / partial / no) is our own LLM classification, assessed from a launch's description and website, not a guarantee -- a starting signal about apparent scope and complexity. The headline number below uses raw upvote counts, not our upvotes-percentile field: percentile is computed within each source (so every source averages to roughly 0.5 by construction), which makes it useless for comparing a cross-source slice like this one. Raw upvotes don't have that problem, so that's the real evidence here. This is a correlation, not a controlled experiment -- see "What this doesn't tell you" below before treating it as causal.
The headline number
| Vibe-codeable? | Avg. upvotes | Launches |
|---|---|---|
| No | 49.9 | 9,166 |
| Partial | 37.7 | 9,555 |
| Yes | 23.8 | 28,988 |
Launches we classify as easy to vibe-code get roughly half the upvotes of launches that aren't -- 23.8 vs. 49.9, a clean 2x gap. The pattern is monotonic: no > partial > yes, all the way down. The easier something is to build solo in a weekend, the easier it is for someone else to build the same thing solo in a weekend -- and the market treats it that way.
Which verticals are hardest (and easiest) to vibe-code
| Vertical | Share vibe-codeable |
|---|---|
| Education | 76% |
| Marketing | 72% |
| Horizontal (no specific vertical) | 62% |
| Commerce | 61% |
| Media | 59% |
| Fintech | 59% |
| Healthcare | 59% |
| Security | 41% |
Security sits well below every other vertical -- the one place real domain complexity (auth, crypto, compliance) seems to resist the weekend-build treatment. Education and Marketing sit at the other end: content-heavy, template-friendly categories where "vibe-codeable" is closer to the default than the exception. Commerce is a good concrete illustration of the whole pattern -- a vertical skewed well above the all-launch baseline on vibe-codeable share, and one where the attention penalty shows up starkly in the raw numbers.
One more wrinkle: vibe-codeable isn't just an AI-tools phenomenon. Among launches we tag "yes," the majority (16,714 of 28,449 with both fields assessed) aren't AI-native products at all -- plenty of simple, template-friendly non-AI tools register as easy to build too.
What this means if you're using vibe-codeable as a shortlist signal
Easy to build and worth building are different questions, and Nicheloom's own badge only answers the first one. A "yes" tells you a solo weekend is plausible -- it doesn't tell you the market will reward you for spending it. If anything, treat "partial" or "no" alongside real momentum and low crowding as the stronger shortlist combination: harder to build usually means harder to copy, and the data backs that up directly.
What this doesn't tell you
This is correlation, not a controlled test -- it's plausible the causation runs the other way, or both ways at once: ideas that are inherently less novel or less differentiated might get classified as both "vibe-codeable" and lower-attention by the same underlying simplicity, rather than buildability itself suppressing attention. The vibe-codeable call is also an LLM's own assessment from limited text, not a verified build attempt -- it can be wrong in either direction. And none of this measures revenue, retention, or survival, only launch-day attention.
Frequently asked questions
Do vibe-codeable launches really get fewer upvotes? Yes -- launches classified vibe-codeable average 23.8 upvotes vs. 49.9 for launches that aren't, roughly half, using raw upvote counts (not the source-normalized percentile field) to avoid a cross-source averaging artifact.
Which vertical is hardest to vibe-code? Security, where only 41% of launches are classified vibe-codeable -- the lowest share of any tracked vertical, well below Education (76%) and Marketing (72%) at the other end.
Does "vibe-codeable" just mean "an AI tool"? No -- most vibe-codeable launches (about 59%) aren't AI-native products at all. It's a broader buildability signal, not an AI-specific one.
Should I avoid building something vibe-codeable? Not necessarily -- it just means expect more competition. Pairing it with real momentum and low crowding data (both on the Niches page) is a stronger signal than vibe-codeable alone.
