Description

I like doodling, and I like character animation. I made a little tool that can animate your hand drawn characters and put them into an animated meme. It's free, there's no login needed, and it uses an animation pipeline (not generative AI) to create the outputs. Works on desktop and mobile. If you give it a try, I'd love to hear your feedback. Thanks!

Could you build this?

Partial While the web app wrapper is simple, creating an algorithmic, non-generative 2D character rigging and animation engine requires non-trivial computer vision and graphics programming.

What it would actually take: The animation engine relies on computer vision algorithms (e.g., via OpenCV/WASM) for silhouette extraction, contour parsing, joint/skeleton estimation, and mesh skinning (such as Moving Least Squares or linear blend skinning) to drive predefined 2D motion templates. The primary difficulty is robustly inferring joint hierarchies and binding points from arbitrary, unstructured hand doodles without manual intervention.
