Description

We think it's too damn expensive to send email these days. We built Anypost on modern (non-cloudy) infrastructure to ensure we can offer a top-shelf product without having to hit you with the cloud tax. We're not looking to be the next unicorn. We just want a sustainable product that helps solopreneurs and high-volume senders get their message out without having to worry about the bill. We're around - feel free to ask questions!

Could you build this?

No Operating a commercial email delivery infrastructure involves severe IP reputation management, anti-abuse systems, ISP relationships, and high-throughput MTA operations.

What it would actually take: The core system requires high-throughput MTAs (like Postfix or custom Rust/Go SMTP daemons), DKIM/SPF/DMARC automated signing pipelines, and queue management with Redis/Kafka. The critical challenge is IP warm-up algorithms, bounce/complaint feedback loops with major mail providers (Gmail, Microsoft), and constant abuse detection to prevent IP blocklisting. It requires specialized email deliverability engineers and dedicated network operations personnel.

Discussion

18 comments analyzed.

Competitors mentioned: AWS SES, Sendgrid, Mailgun

Concerns raised: Monthly subscription model vs pay-per-use pricing, Vendor lock-in risk, Security/breach exposure for auth-critical email, Verification email delivery failures, Unclear if SMTP is supported

Feature requests: Pay-for-use pricing model instead of subscription, Make SMTP support more prominent
