Description
We do a lot of document processing, and PaddleOCR-VL-1.6 is one of the best open models we've used. We wanted to use it as an api, but couldn't find anyone hosting it. so we started hosting it ourselves, but to get full utilization on the GPUs, we decided to let others use it as well.If we did the pricing math right (which I hope we did), it should be the cheapest OCR there is, at just $0.001/page. Let us know if you find it useful

Could you build this?
Partial The API gateway, billing, and auth wrapper are standard web development tasks, but hosting and scaling PaddleOCR-VL-1.6 inference efficiently requires GPU infrastructure management and CUDA optimization.
What it would actually take: The architecture entails an API gateway (FastAPI/Node.js) backed by GPU clusters running model serving engines like vLLM or Triton Inference Server with CUDA/TensorRT optimizations. Handling large batch PDF workloads efficiently requires asynchronous job queues (Celery/Redis or SQS) and autoscaling spot GPU instances. Vibe coding can handle the API interface and client SDKs, but GPU infrastructure engineering and latency/throughput tuning require dedicated DevOps and ML systems expertise.

Same idea, different domain
Nobody's really built a model & infra tool for Fintech yet.
