Description

I've been building Rivers for the past 7 months, an asset-based orchestrator. The core components such as planning, scheduling etc are in Rust and the user facing API is in Python. My most recent release adds OIDC and forward auth support. Security shouldn't be paywalled :)

Could you build this?

Partial While basic task schedulers can be vibe-coded, an asset-based distributed orchestrator with mixed Rust/Python bindings, DAG execution engine, and auth proxies is too architecturally complex.

What it would actually take: Requires a Rust core engine handling DAG scheduling, state persistence, and concurrent execution pools exposed to Python via PyO3, accompanied by an embedded forward-auth reverse proxy supporting OpenID Connect flows. The challenging aspects include robust asset lineage tracking, distributed lock contention, crash recovery, and high-performance cross-language FFI overhead.
