Description

As a software dev, I really enjoy having live coding videos playing in the background while I work. But it's surprisingly difficult to find hour+ long videos of coding without commentary on Youtube. What I really wanted was an infinite coding video, so I built one. Pick your IDE/monitor/ambience of choice, hit the Screensaver button, put it on a second monitor or TV, and enjoy infinite coding ASMR.

Could you build this?

Yes A web app that streams pre-recorded or dynamically generated code into a retro DOS/Borland Turbo C-styled terminal interface with typing animations is easily built using standard frontend tools.

Discussion

8 comments analyzed.

Competitors mentioned: RHIDE, Borland's Turbo C++

Concerns raised: Preview error occurring for some users, WebGL/shader requirements causing compatibility issues, Files typed top-to-bottom doesn't match real coding workflow

Feature requests: Support arbitrary/self-hosted git repositories (Gitea, etc.), AST-based code navigation between files and functions
