Description

Hey HN,I am creating megaDSP, a huge DAW plugin for all platforms, with the goal of it being a free, open-source, and semi or fully autonomous github project that evolves around community feedback. It currently has more than 50 audio effects that can be combined together in effects chains, and also supports "snapshots" where you can seamlessly switch between different effects chains (for live use, like a fancy guitar pedalboard for example).I would really love if you have a moment to test it out, give thoughts, etc. There are many, many plugins out there in the world, but many of them are either DAW-specific or have annoying copy protections etc.Having one huge plugin with great DSP algorithms seems like it could be a benefit to the music/audio world. Thanks, -Kevinfirst pre-release:https://github.com/kevinlong206/megaDSP/releases/tag/v0.30.0...

Could you build this?

Partial The UI wrapper or simple audio effects can be coded with AI, but developing 50 stable, cross-platform DSP effects in a real-time native plugin framework (JUCE/VST3/AU) requires specialized audio engineering.

What it would actually take: The plugin would typically be developed in C++ using the JUCE framework or CLAP SDK, targeting VST3, AU, and AAX formats across Windows, macOS, and Linux. The challenging part is implementing 50 distinct real-time digital signal processing algorithms (filters, reverbs, spectral processing, pitch shifting) that run in lock-free, zero-allocation audio render threads without glitches, demanding formal DSP mathematics and real-time audio systems expertise.

Concerns raised: Scroll wheel accidentally triggers fader adjustments during interface scrolling

Feature requests: Prevent scroll wheel interaction with knobs and faders
