Description

I have a weird habit of guessing whether something's AI before I check, especially on LinkedIn and Reddit (for obvious reasons). The detectors I used to confirm were mostly junk and built to sell you a "humanizer" upsell, so I went and read the actual research on what gives AI text away in 2026, then built my own (no login and free)The main sources I used are these: https://arxiv.org/abs/2406.07016 https://arxiv.org/abs/2403.07183 https://aclanthology.org/2025.coling-main.426/ https://arxiv.org/abs/2410.16107 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Signs_of_AI_writing (Amazing article on the topic)Would love to hear what you think and how you spot slop in the wild!

Could you build this?

Partial The front-end and API integration are trivial, but accurate AI text detection requires statistical n-gram analysis, perplexity/burstiness models, or fine-tuned classifiers that must be properly trained and calibrated.

What it would actually take: A functioning detector relies on computing log-probability distributions from open-weight base models (evaluating perplexity and burstiness) or hosting fine-tuned transformer classification models. It requires an inference pipeline (PyTorch/ONNX/vLLM) running on GPU hardware, alongside curated datasets of human vs. synthetic text to minimize false positives.

Same idea, different domain

Nobody's really built a observability & eval tool for Media & entertainment yet.
