Could you build this?
No Building a multitasking Unix-like OS with a kernel, pipes, a shell, and a 1541 disk filesystem on the C64 requires deep 6502 assembly, interrupt-driven scheduling, and knowledge of the drive's firmware protocol that AI-assisted coding can't reliably supply.
What it would actually take: A real version would be a hand-optimized 6502 assembly kernel with cooperative or preemptive task switching, a directory and file layer over the 1541's serial bus (IEC protocol and drive-side DOS commands), and pipe buffering in limited RAM. It needs retro-systems programmers who understand cycle timing and the C64 memory map, and testing on real or highly accurate emulated hardware.
