Foldy Pets is a virtual pet you take care of by not using your phone. Tuck it in, then lock your phone, turn it face down or close your iPhone Duo. Come back after 20 minutes or more to a dream: a constellation for your night sky. Rested hours make your companion evolve from a pixel hatchling into a creature of light. Nothing dies, and missed days cost nothing. Free on iPhone, with an optional Foldy Pro upgrade. No account, no ads, no tracking.

Partial The virtual pet, evolution, and night sky art are straightforward, but detecting when the phone is locked, face-down, or closed is restricted by iOS sandboxing.
What it would actually take: Build a SwiftUI app with a pet state machine, persistence, and a night-sky renderer, and use Focus, Screen Time, or Family Controls APIs where permitted. The hard part is that iOS does not expose face-down or lock state to third-party apps, so the detection signal needs a workaround that works within Apple's rules. That requires iOS platform expertise and product compromises.
