An open-source Android file manager that finds files by what's inside them. EmbeddingGemma runs on the phone and indexes your documents and photos, so an English search can find a Hindi PDF, even in airplane mode. Free, early beta.

Could you build this?

Partial The Android file manager UI and on-device embedding inference are reachable with existing models like EmbeddingGemma. Making indexing of documents, photos, and multilingual OCR fast and battery-friendly is the hard piece that needs real mobile ML engineering.

What it would actually take: The stack would be a native Android app (Kotlin) using LiteRT or ONNX Runtime to run an on-device embedding model, with a local vector index such as HNSW or SQLite-vec. Photos would need on-device OCR or captioning, and PDFs would need text extraction. Tuning indexing throughput, memory, and battery use across many devices requires experienced Android and on-device ML engineers.
