What it would actually take: Implement a tokenizer and block/inline parser in a systems language (Rust or C), targeting the CommonMark spec test suite and the mdast node schema. The hard parts are spec edge cases (emphasis delimiter rules, link reference resolution) and performance tuning. Passing conformance tests and benchmarking against existing parsers requires a parsing specialist.
