Read the full description

Dream-1 is Dream Labs' World Action Model that gives compatible robots the ability to perform tasks without robot-specific training. Connect a two-armed robot with parallel grippers to its API, provide camera observations and instructions, and Dream-1 generates the actions. It generalizes across new robots, tasks, and environments, with optional fine-tuning when needed. Available in public research beta starting at $3/hour, plus a playground for trying real and simulated robots.

Could you build this?

No Dream-1 is a robotics foundation model that generates actions for new robots without task-specific training. That requires large-scale robot training data, model research, and substantial compute, none of which vibe coding provides.

What it would actually take: Building an equivalent requires collecting or simulating large datasets of robot observations paired with actions across many embodiments. It then needs training a vision-language-action model at scale with novel architecture work, plus hardware integration and evaluation on real robots. This is frontier robotics research and infrastructure, requiring ML research teams, GPU clusters, and robot hardware access.
