Hello HN,I've been working on a new Web engine, build around two ideas:- use formal methods from day one. - make it modular. The modularity is orientated towards the following goals:- enabling shipping anywhere, including on IOS in the EU as per Apple’s guidelines. - only write code for stuff the OS or application platform cannot do for you: keep binary size to a minimum and achieve native performance. - developer choice: bring what you want, and only build what you need. For example you can choose a JS engine like v8 or Boa, or just bring your own. The entire graphics pipeline consists of components whose implementation can be swapped-out, with currently a relatively fast path on Mac integrating with Core Animation and a slower cross platform path.Project is at https://github.com/gterzian/formal-webIntro essay at: https://medium.com/@polyglot_factotum/how-i-am-building-a-we...Please let me know what you think.

No A browser engine with formal verification, modular OS integration, and iOS compliance requires years of work from specialists in compilers, formal methods, and web platform standards.
What it would actually take: A real version means a full HTML/CSS parser, layout, JavaScript integration, and rendering, with proofs of key components in a tool like Coq, Lean, or TLA+. It also needs deep platform knowledge for WebKit-based iOS restrictions and EU DMA constraints. This is a multi-year team effort by browser engineers and formal methods researchers.
