Read the full description

Halt is a website and app blocker for Windows. It blocks distracting sites in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox through the browsers' own settings, so there's no extension to switch off, and closes blocked apps and games. With the Timer lock there's no early exit: Stop is refused, and restarting or uninstalling won't end a session. Also: daily limits (YouTube, 2 hours a day), one switch for Shorts and Reels, and an adult filter for the whole PC. Pro is $29 once, never a subscription.

Could you build this?

Partial The UI and timer logic are easy, but blocking through browser policies and closing apps on Windows is systems-level work. Making the block tamper-resistant without breaking the OS is harder.

What it would actually take: Build a Windows service or tray app that writes browser enterprise policy and registry settings, monitors processes, and enforces a timer lock. Making it robust needs Windows internals knowledge (registry, services, process APIs, UAC and ACL handling), testing across browser versions, and care to avoid system instability.
