Partial SmartTube is an existing large open-source Android TV YouTube client, so a fork is possible with AI help. Keeping a substantial, device-specific media app working and ad-free against YouTube's changes is harder than a typical vibe-coded project.
What it would actually take: Starting from the existing codebase, a builder would work in Java/Kotlin with ExoPlayer and YouTube's internal APIs, which change often. Real progress requires Android TV debugging on actual devices and a sustained maintenance effort to track the upstream project and YouTube's API changes.
