Read the full description

Look at another screen, window or split pane and start typing. Eyeshift uses the webcam you already have to move keyboard focus to wherever you're looking, so you stop typing into the wrong window. It works with split panes in iTerm2, Ghostty, VS Code, Cursor, Zed, Xcode and JetBrains, never steals focus while you type, and learns from your clicks. Everything runs on your Mac: nothing recorded, nothing sent. A free, open-source alternative to Glance Switch.

Could you build this?

Partial The app shell and integrations are buildable, but reliable webcam gaze tracking that routes focus across many apps is a hard computer-vision problem.

What it would actually take: The stack would use a pretrained gaze-estimation model running locally (for example via MediaPipe or ONNX) for webcam input, plus OS accessibility APIs to map gaze to windows and split panes. The hard parts are calibration and accuracy across lighting and head positions, and reliable per-app pane detection. Computer-vision and macOS accessibility expertise is needed.
