Description

I built a browser-based simulator of NASA's Artemis II mission — the first crewed lunar flight since Apollo 17.You fly the actual mission profile: launch to parking orbit, raise to High Earth Orbit, fire Trans-Lunar Injection when the Moon is in position, swing behind the Moon, and return to Earth. The physics uses RK4 integration with real Earth and Moon gravity.Have fun experimenting with what happens if you don't time it right!

Could you build this?

Partial A web frontend with three.js or canvas is straightforward to vibe-code, but realistic n-body orbital mechanics and patched conic trajectory propagation for lunar free-return missions require specialized astrodynamics math.

What it would actually take: To build an accurate lunar mission simulator, you need a numeric integration engine (e.g., Runge-Kutta RK4/RK8) modeling Earth-Moon gravitational fields, frame-of-reference transformations (ICRF, Earth-Centered Inertial vs. Moon-Centered), and accurate orbital maneuvering/delta-v calculations. The UI and 3D rendering can use Three.js/WebGL, but tuning real-time trajectory prediction and orbital burn physics requires deep knowledge of orbital mechanics.
