Description

I built and released Limen v0.1.0:https://github.com/thecodearcher/limenWriteup/docs: https://limenauth.dev/blog/introducing-limenIt’s inspired by better-auth’s plugin-first DX, but designed for idiomatic Go. The core handles sessions/cookies/security primitives, and auth methods are composed as plugins (credential auth, OAuth providers, and 2FA today). It exposes an http.Handler, so it works with plain net/http and frameworks like Gin/Echo/Chi/Fiber without framework lock-in.This is the first public release. I’d really appreciate feedback.

Could you build this?

Partial The foundational HTTP handlers and OAuth flows are straightforward, but building a robust, production-grade security and authentication framework requires rigorous cryptographic, session-hardening, and timing attack protections.

What it would actually take: A complete Go auth framework requires implementing pluggable database adapters (GORM, raw SQL), OAuth 2.0/OIDC client flows, session rotation mechanisms, CSRF protection, and RFC 6238 TOTP logic. The challenging aspect is ensuring strict security defaults, side-channel attack mitigations, constant-time comparisons, and an idiomatic extensible plugin API that integrates across diverse Go web routers.
