Partial The UI and cast flow are standard, using the Google Cast web sender and a local file server. Playing MKV files with subtitles usually needs transcoding or demuxing that the Cast receiver doesn't support natively, which is harder.
What it would actually take: Build a Chrome extension or local helper that serves the dropped file over a local HTTP server to the Cast receiver. For MKV, add in-browser demuxing or ffmpeg (WASM or a native helper) to convert subtitles and transcode video. The hard part is codec and container support without uploading files.
