Read the full description
Mewmori is a pixel cat that lives on your Mac desktop. He notices what you're working on, says something about it, and remembers you between sessions: your name, what you told him, what you were doing last week. The language model runs on your machine, so screen contents, conversations and memory stay there. There is no account. Free, 26 MB, macOS 14.6+. The model is a separate 1.4 GB download you approve first; the cat works without it. Only skins are paid.

Partial The pixel-cat desktop UI and memory store are buildable with vibe coding, but a good local AI companion needs an on-device model and careful macOS screen-capture integration. Response quality and resource use on consumer hardware are the hard parts.
What it would actually take: Build a native macOS app in Swift with a pixel-art sprite system, plus a local inference runtime such as llama.cpp or Ollama. The hard parts are tuning a small model to hold a persona with good latency, and building efficient screen-context extraction that respects privacy. That takes macOS systems experience and some ML tuning.
