Road Rash was one of my favourite PC games growing up. I wanted to play it again, but the browser emulators I tried felt sluggish, so I decided to build a browser version using Three.js.This started mostly out of nostalgia. I wanted to be able to open a link and get back to racing and knocking people off their bikes.

Could you build this?

Partial The Three.js rendering, controls, and menus are vibe-codeable, but recreating the original game's gameplay requires reverse-engineering its asset formats and logic. The core scene and UI are approachable, while faithful reproduction of the original data is the hard part.

What it would actually take: The approach is to parse the original DOS game's data files (sprites, tracks, and FMV-free assets) and rebuild its physics, AI traffic, and combat rules in Three.js or a similar engine. The hard parts are decoding undocumented binary formats, matching original handling and timing, and handling the copyrighted assets legally. This needs reverse-engineering skills and retro-game knowledge.
